Today let’s look at quotations on thinkers and thinking.

First please check out my post Taking The Long View at Mindculture’s Blog. That should give you a lot of food for thought.

Next we go to some of the thinking quotes that took my fancy. Nothing can beat the first one though:

Poirot,” I said. “I have been thinking.”
“An admirable exercise my friend. Continue it.”

~ Agatha Christie in Peril at End House

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”
~Abraham Lincoln

***

“you can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will.”
~Stephen King in On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

***

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking.
It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
~Albert Einstein

***

“We are addicted to our thoughts.
We cannot change anything if we cannot change our thinking.”
~Santosh Kalwar in Quote Me Everyday

***

“Thoughts Become Things… Choose The Good Ones!”
~Mike Dooley

***

“Always think extra hard before crossing over to a bad side, if you were weak enough to cross over, you may not be strong enough to cross back!”
~Victoria Addino

***

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
~Plutarch

Spend a moment on that last one. Most of our education systems are based on the premise that the mind is a vessel… and they don’t bother about kindling fires, getting us to think for ourselves.

Here’s another scary thought:

“Whoever controls the media, controls the mind”
~Jim Morrison
